Leader of al-Baraa Ibn Malik Brigade’s Sinnar Sector, Ahmed Awad Bashir, was killed in the last battle between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) near Jebel Moya of the Sudan centeral eastern Sinnar State, announced Leader of Al-Baraa Ibn Malik Brigade, al-Misbah Abu Zaid.

Al-Baraa Ibn Malik Brigade is composed of hard-line youth Islamists affiliated to the deposed ruling party “the National Congress” and fighting alongside the SAF in its war with the RSF.

The shadow brigade emerged after the army leader Abdel Fattah al-Burhan’s coup in October 2021.

The RSF announced on Monday that it recaptured Jebel Moya, 40 kilometers west of Sinnar city, which is situated on the  highway connecting the States of Sinnar, al-Al-Gezira and the White Nile.

The paramilitary on Tuesday tried to enter Sinnar city but the SAF succeeded in repelling the attackers.

Before eruption of the  war, Al-Baraa Ibn Malik Brigade’s top leader, al-Misbah, used to run a shop for kitchen utensils in al-Lamab neighborhood of Khartoum city.

The Saudi Arabia authorities arrested al-Misbah on 4 June 2024 for a week after he organised a large gathering of Sudanese nationals in the Kingdom where he went to perform hajj (pilgrimage).

Last Ramadan, a  gathering organized by the Brigade for a fast-breaking meal in Atabra, north Sudan, has been attacked with a drone resulting in killing and injuring a number of the participants.
